When you dream about the comfort food you used to eat. And then you wake up hungry and realize it was only a dream.
Ugh. I hate the word "diet". Everyone is on a diet; a diet is the food you eat. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
My old diet had a lot of pizza, breads, cheese, eggs, and very few vegetables, fruits, protein, etc. Needless to say, that packs on the pounds pretty easily, especially when I didn't work out consistently.
But I'm 10 days into the diet New Eating and Exercise Habits, and so far, so great! I have lost more pounds than expected. But on the other hand, I have experienced plenty of hunger pangs. And grumpiness. And grief over the loss of the freedom to eat whatever, whenever. But that was a loss I need to go through. It can only get better from here.
And my success has come even though I have not been perfectly strict with the diet NEEH. Come on, what's 4th of July or campfires without smores? Or in my case, one lonely smore? So I don't feel like I'm slave to the NEEH. And that goes a long way.
New blog unveiling coming this weekend. Pinky swear!

Good for you! I promise that you will not grieve forever. When you stop eating that stuff, after a little while, you don't want it anymore. Eventually it doesn't even sound appealing. It will get easier!

It's a change in lifestyle, as well. I had a hard time with not eating junk - as you KNOW how I LOVE my chocolate. Can I just recommend Quaker rice cakes (chocolate or carmel) they are a LIFESAVER when you are craving junk. Eat 7 and they are only 60 calories. I eat yogurt and fruit too. Fruit is good because it is sweet, but you can't eat too much because it turns sugary. Apples are good because they takes so long to eat. I am a big water proponent, too. But water is an acquired taste if you are used to drinking sodas or teas and stuff. Just some advice, in case you want it (or, apparently, in case you don't :)

It's great that you're seeing weight loss already! That's one of the best motivators.
I too dream about food. Even if I'm eating it at the time.

Yay Pam! I'm in the same boat... I'm doing better with the whole foods thing, but I gotta get off that dessert wagon. Keep up the good work!
