I was planning to do this Friday 5 last week, but time escaped me. I've actually been pretty busy at work, which is a good thing. It's temporary, but I'm almost thankful because it makes the days go by so much faster.
So here are 5 pictures I saw online last week (and I swapped out one for a new one this week, to keep up to date). These are just pictures that I saw, liked, and wanted to remember.
1. This happened a couple weeks ago, but I keep forgetting to blog about it. Did anyone else see Johnny Depp at the MTV Movie Awards? I only saw parts of it as I was flipping around channels. I am not into the whole Pirates of the Caribbean thing, and I am not a fan of him in that movie. But I thought he looked so cool when he was accepting his awards. Not necessarily hot, not necessarily funny, not necessarily exciting. But the dude just exuded coolness. Love him.
2. David Beckham came out with a new ad campaign for Emporio Armani underwear this month. Thank. You. Armani.
3. This one from the lolcats was just too damn cute. I'll take the hugs where I can get them.
4. I frequent the Pop Candy website, and this image for the reader mail made me chuckle. I loved Mr. McFeely. Though saying that now as an adult has a whole new connotation than when I was a kid. Speedy delivery!
5. And this one is just for me. I know, I'm obsessed. But there are worse habits to have. Deal.
Have a fantastic weekend! I'm going to try to make it to A Taste of Rochester, weather permitting. What are you doing?

In a recent post, NPW did two things: she made her first Flickr mosaic, and inspired me to do the same! So here's how you do it.
a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd’s mosaic maker.
1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. What high school did you go to?
4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
6. Favorite drink?
7. Dream vacation?
8. Favorite dessert?
9. What you want to be when you grow up?
10. What do you love most in life?
11. One word to describe you.
12. Your flickr name.
I am happy with all of them except the last one. I only had one picture to choose from. And #11 did not want to share with the mosaic tool, which is just as well, since I couldn't decide on one word for me.
And I will also award super friend/blogger points to anyone who knows who #5 is. Mrrawr.

Oh dear KK, don't worry. I've been around. I've been keeping tabs on most of you out there. I've been in the process of moving over to another blog service. I enjoy TypePad a lot, but am exploring other options too. Stay tuned.

It's funny how things turn out. When I started this blog, I expected, better yet assumed, that it would be about me telling you stuff. Me teaching you stuff. Me spilling my guts, my heart, and my brain to you.
Lately I feel like I'm using this big old blogsphere as an advice forum. So in this entry...
Tonight I spontaneously cleaned out a lot of food from my pantry. I'm talking food that I know has been there more than 5 years. It was pretty much just canned goods, boxed cake mixes that I never got around to making, stuff like that.
During this cleaning process, I found 4 jars of salsa. Four jars of salsa. I'd like to chalk off one or even two of those to the fact that they were hidden behind other things and I couldn't see that I already had some. But clearly, clearly I was over-salsa-ed. And it's not like I even eat a lot of salsa at home. It's a pretty rare thing actually.
So my question to you:
Um, and, um, if there's no expiration date on the salsa, does that mean it's still okay to eat? I was a little surprised there wasn't some kind of expiration date on any of those jars.
Or it means there is so many preservatives and/or salt that it will never go bad. Ew.
Update (6/18/08): I threw it all out. No need to take chances like that. I forgot to mention that I also found a jar of queso too. No chance I'd eat that if it's been sitting around longer than a week! Double. Ew.

Whew, what a week! We had our big user conference at work this week, capped off by our 30th anniversary party here on the grounds at work. The words "medieval carnival" have been used to describe it. Over 600 people (we have only 200+ employees). Jousting (on real horses, with real people in real armor). Yes, that's right, we had horses on our property. A palm reader and a magician, maid Marion & Robin Hood, and even more. Our back property was really transformed into a Renaissance fair. I really had lots of fun. They went all out & I realize I'm very fortunate to be working here.
Up next for me? The Rochester International Jazz Fest starts next weekend and I can't wait! There are 4 acts I want to see, and 3 of them are on the free stages. Yay me!
Meanwhile, this weekend I will be laying low and trying to beat this cold I've been harboring this week. Plus it's going to be god-awful hot & humid this weekend so I'll stay in the A/C as much as I can. Thanks, really.
Thanks to Julia for posting her meme today and tagging all her readers, so here's my meme for my Friday Five.
And you're all tagged now too!
1. What I was doing 10 years ago?
Hmm 1998. I was one year into my job as a technical writer working for a company that makes software for higher ed. I think the company has changed names twice since then. But oddly enough I've run into several coworkers from that job over the past year, so it doesn't feel that long ago.
I think 1998 was also the year I journeyed west and took a solo vacation to California. I went to Sacramento to watch an AVP tournament, then down to San Francisco for a couple days to stay with an old roommate, then down Highway 1 to LA. I stayed with my oldest friend Tricia in Pasadena. Met her now husband. Saw Bill Nye (the Science Guy) speak at the CalTech graduation ceremonies that I crashed and then I left to go tour Hollywood.
I really didn't think twice about traveling for over a week by myself, and doing all that driving. I guess it could have been a dangerous thing, but nothing did happen. Just some interesting challenges with air travel.
This was also the year (I think) that I started working at my part-time job. I have been there off and on for 10 years now. Wow. Considering some of the others that work there were only in grade school at the time, I can safely say it makes me feel old.
